Emmylou Harris to Headline Calgary Folk Music Festival 2023

The Calgary Folk Music Festival has announced its lineup for the 44th edition of the event, which will take place on July 27-30, 2023 at Prince's Island Park. The festival will feature over 70 artists from around the world, spanning genres from folk, roots, blues, indie, rock, and more.

One of the highlights of the festival will be the legendary Emmylou Harris, who will headline the main stage on Saturday night. Harris is a 14-time Grammy winner and a member of the Country Music Hall of Fame. She has collaborated with artists such as Bob Dylan, Dolly Parton, Willie Nelson, and Neil Young. Her distinctive voice and exquisite songwriting have earned her a loyal fan base and critical acclaim.

Harris will be joined by other notable performers at the festival, such as Canadian indie rockers Arcade Fire, Malian singer-songwriter Fatoumata Diawara, Irish folk band The Gloaming, and Australian electro-pop duo The Avalanches. The festival will also showcase local talent from Calgary and Alberta, such as folk trio The Good Lovelies, roots rocker Leeroy Stagger, and soul singer Nuela Charles.

The festival's artistic director Kerry Clarke said that she is thrilled with the lineup and hopes that it will appeal to a diverse audience. "We are always looking for artists who are innovative, creative, and passionate about their music. We want to offer something for everyone, whether they are longtime folk fans or newcomers to the genre. We are especially excited to have Emmylou Harris as our headliner, as she is a true icon and an inspiration to many."
